Mrs. Satya Gilani

Co-Founder

Co-founder and Managing Director of AMCPL, driving the company's academic publishing mission and organizational leadership.

Mrs. Satya Gilani was the Managing Director, Publisher, and enduring conscience of Associated Management Consultants Private Limited (AMCPL). A partner in purpose from the very founding of the organisation in 1964, she stood alongside her husband, Shri Jagdish Chander Gilani, as AMCPL grew into India’s foremost management publishing institution. When Shri Gilani passed away in 1994, she stepped forward, without hesitation, as the permanent steward of a legacy she believed in absolutely.

For three decades, from 1994 to 2024, Mrs. Gilani served as Publisher of AMCPL’s journals, ensuring uninterrupted monthly publication through technological change, economic uncertainty, and the sweeping disruptions that reshaped Indian academia. Under her stewardship, AMCPL grew to serve over 5,000 institutional subscribers across India, cementing the Indian Journal of Marketing (founded in 1968) as the country’s oldest and only monthly marketing journal.

Mrs. Gilani also oversaw AMCPL’s Management Development Programmes, which have trained over 200,000 professionals in association with organisations including Nestlé, Air India, and Hindustan Unilever. With equal foresight, she planned a thoughtful institutional succession, entrusting operational leadership to Mr. Deepak Sawhney in 2000. She led not through authority alone, but through example ; with integrity, quiet resolve, and an unshakeable belief that the work mattered.
