Advancing Scholarly Research Since 1964.
Associated Management Consultants Private Limited (AMCPL) was founded in 1964 by Shri Jagdish Chander Gilani, an alumnus of the Faculty of Management Studies, University of Delhi, an accomplished author, an eloquent orator, and a management consultant of international distinction with experience spanning India, the USA, Canada, England, and France. A visionary educationist with a rare breadth of innovative ideas, Mr. J. C. Gilani recognized early the critical need for rigorous, accessible research in the field of management in India. Driven by this conviction, he founded the Indian Journal of Marketing as Editor-in-Chief and Publisher in 1968, which remains to this day India's oldest, most reputed, and only monthly journal of marketing. Over more than three decades, he conducted Management Development Programmes for senior, middle, and first-line management personnel, and worked closely with leading organizations as a trusted advisor on strategy, structure, and operations. His corporate vision, boundless energy, and deep commitment to knowledge creation laid the foundation upon which AMCPL continues to stand. It is in honour of his enduring legacy that AMCPL has grown into one of India's foremost academic publishing organizations — a trusted name in scholarly communication across management, finance, economics, entrepreneurship, computer science, and engineering domains.
True to the spirit of its founder, AMCPL has remained steadfast at the forefront of academic publishing for over six decades. Today, its portfolio of eight double-blind peer-reviewed journals serves as an indispensable resource for researchers, educators, industry practitioners, and policymakers across India and beyond — a living testament to Mr. Gilani's belief that quality research is the cornerstone of professional and societal progress.
Alongside Shri Gilani, Mrs. Satya Gilani was a pillar of AMCPL from its earliest years, working closely with her husband to build the organization's foundations with quiet strength and unwavering commitment. When Shri Gilani passed away in 1994, it was Mrs. Gilani who stepped forward to bear the full weight of the organization, ensuring that his life's work was not only preserved but carried forward with integrity. For three decades, from 1994 to 2024, she served as Editor-in-Chief of AMCPL's journals, personally overseeing editorial quality, maintaining publishing continuity, and upholding the rigorous standards that Shri Gilani had established. Beyond her editorial responsibilities, she managed the broader operations of the company — navigating financial, administrative, and institutional challenges — and did so with a steadiness that kept AMCPL on course through decades of change. It was also Mrs. Gilani who thoughtfully planned the succession of the organization, ensuring a structured and responsible transition of leadership. Her three decades of service as the organization's anchor represent one of the most remarkable chapters in AMCPL's history — a testament to her resilience, vision, and deep sense of responsibility toward the institution her husband had founded.
As part of this carefully planned succession, the operational and publishing responsibilities were entrusted to Mr. Deepak Sawhney in 2000, who is now the Publisher and Managing Director of AMCPL. A dual engineering graduate and strategic leader with over 25 years of global experience, including leadership roles at IBM and Accenture, Mr. Sawhney has been the driving force behind AMCPL's expansion as a Publisher. Under his stewardship, seven new peer-reviewed journals were founded, including the Indian Journal of Finance, Prabandhan: Indian Journal of Management, and Arthshastra Indian Journal of Economics & Research (UGC–CARE List of Journals Group I), growing AMCPL's portfolio to eight journals. He has built a robust institutional subscriber base, ensured an uninterrupted print publication schedule for over two decades, and established AMCPL's journals on leading global indexing platforms — strengthening the organization's academic credibility and long-term sustainability.
